The transition to kindergarten is a big life change, and the first step in that change starts with enrollment! The importance of kindergarten is related to 3rd grade reading scores, 4th and 6th grade performance, and even 9th grade and high school graduation rates! The pathway to the promise starts with kindergarten and we must invest early in our families to encourage long lasting positive habits and educational results.
In Pittsburgh Public Schools, Kindergarten Early Enrollment Week is February 11-15, 2013. Ready Freddy is having special Parent Welcome Centers in 6 schools to make parents and caregivers feel welcome, have a nice space to complete their registration paperwork, and have a friendly face to speak with about their chosen school.
Please post the flyers below (links to PDFs included) at your places of business and organizations and distribute this to families with children who will be five by September 30, 2013 for the schools listed. To register, they need 2 proofs of address, immunization records, and their child’s birth certificate.
Kindergarten is NOT mandatory in this state so we have to work together to make sure parents and caregivers know it’s important. I appreciate your assistance!
