Parent Nation Organizing Pays DividendsLeave a Comment
Last week we learned that the impressive organizing work done by Pittsburgh Faison Parents and Staff has paid off. On Friday, the Board of Education approved Faison to start the school year with five kindergarten and five first grade teachers. While we know many schools begin the year with some shifting as enrollment adjusts, Pittsburgh Faison is a vulnerable school by a variety of measures, and the churn of teachers, and the shifting of classes made getting started on the right foot, even harder. Cheers to Ms. Cecily and all the parents at Faison who testified at the board, signed on to a petition and lobbied for their children.
